Benjamin Jones

Benjamin married Alice Sutton in May of 1799. After Alice's death he remarried to Polly Atwell on December 16, 1816.

The 1810 census listed Benjamin Jones as the head of family in King George. House hold members were; five males under 10, one male 10-15, one male 26-44, one female 26-44 and one slave.

Benjamin likely served in the Militia during the War of 1812. The 25th was based in King George and The Jett and Allied Families claims that Benjamin's service was with the 25th in Captain Pollard's Company. An inventory of the records show there were 17 different Benjamin Jones listed in the Virginia Militia. There are records of both a Benjamin and Peter Jones in the 25th Regiment of the Virginia Militia, but under Capt. Smith's Company. The index indicate Benjamin entered service as a corporal and left as a private.

Alice died about 1815 and Benjamin remarried the following year.

Benjamin appears on the 1820 census still in King George. House hold members listed were; one male 26-44, two females under 10, one female 16-25, one male slave under 14, one female slave under 14 and one female slave 26-44.

Benjamin died before the summer of 1824. A July 1st King George County Court document shows that Benjamin's seven children have been made wards of their uncle, Peter Jones.
