Joseph Rallings' last name may have been Rollins or Rawlings, but he appears to have spelled it as Rallings on his will. Joseph was probably born about 1770 in King George County to Joseph Rollins and Catherine Settle.

A marriage register entry in King George on December 22nd, 1788 lists Joseph Rollins and Druillah Settle. This appears to be a match, but no children are known from that marriage. Joseph married Mary Bryan in King George on April 11th, 1798 and had five children.

Joseph wrote a will on July 14th, 1805 and that will was proven on December 5th of the same year. He left everything to his wife during her life or widowhood and then to be divided among the children. He also named his wife as executrix of his estate.

In The name of God Amen. I Joseph Rallings of King George being of disposing sence [sic] and memory to make this my last Will and testament to dispose of my worldly goods in manner and form following, that is to say, I leave to my loving wife all my real and personal estate during her natural life and widowhood and then to be equally divided between my children, Viz: Thornton Rallings, James Rallings, Mildred Rallings, Catherine Rallings and Sarah Rallings. I appoint my loving wife sole executrix to this my last will and testament revoking all wills heretofore made. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 14th day of July in the year of our Lord 1805.
