William Self >> William Self >> Jemima Self >> Jemimah Hudson >> Ann Dameron >> Richard Fallin >> Mildred Fallin >> Elton Dameron >> Ralph Dameron >> Mark DameronWilliam's wife is unknown, he does not refer to her by name in his will. He had as many as seven children. In 1710 William and his brother John were granted "90 acres beginning at the north westernmost corner tree of the land of Robert Self thence on the northwest side of the little pond falling into Nominy branches." In August of 1712 John Garner was ordered in court to pay William 60 pounds of tobacco for attending court for four days as a witness. In March of 1713 William was named as appraiser of the estate of James Moore.
William wrote his will on March 10th, 1760 and signed by making a mark consisting of a 'W' and backwards 'S'. The will was proven on January 26th, 1762. William asked to be buried at the plantation where he lived. He left the land where his son William, Jr. lived that adjoined to Richard Lee to William "as far as the valley to the near spring." He gave to rest of his land to a grandson named Peter Self. William instructed that his son Abraham should have one year of school paid for, and that his wife should have use of the estate for the rest of her life.
