Judith Payne

Judith Payne was born about 1719 in Lancaster County to William Payne and Judith. Her father died in 1726 and named her in his will, her mother did not remarry. Judith married at a young age to George Ball, son of William Ball III and Hannah Heale, their marriage bond was issued in Lancaster County on December 10th, 1735. George and Judith had at least four children, it is unclear if their children were born in Lancaster County or Richmond. In 1745 George probated his father's will and received land in Richmond County. Judith's mother died in 1748 and left a will naming her daughter Judith Ball and grand-daughter Judith Ball.

George Ball died intestate before February 4th, 1754. His main estate in Richmond County was inventoried along with another property in King George. Judith is thought to have outlived her husband but in 1756 guardianship papers were filed in Richmond County Court by Robert Mitchell for Judith and George's two youngest sons indicating that she had most likely died.
