Thomas Fallin
Thomas Fallin >> Jeremiah Fallin >> Richard Fallin >> Mildred Fallin >> Elton Dameron >> Ralph Dameron >> Mark DameronSeveral marriage records exist for Thomas Fallin. In 1795 he married Betesy Gibbons, in 1798 Polley "Mary" Haynie and Elizabeth Davis in 1806. Another spouse may have been Nancy Opie Davenport.
A 1810 census record in Lancaster County names Thomas Fallin as the head of a household and states that he owns six slaves, but the ages of the family members seem to be too old to be a correct match.
Thomas served in Northumberland County's 37th VA Militia during the War of 1812. Northumberland saw frequent coastal raids from the British and the militia was often called on to fight.
The 1820 census in Richmond County provides a better match. Household members counted were: one male under 10, one male 16-18, one male 16-25, one male over 45, one female 10-15, one female 16-25, one female 26-44 and one female slave over 45. Three people were listed as working in agriculture.
In 1830 the family was still in Richmond County. Household members were: one male 50-59, one female 15-19 and one female 50-59.
Again in 1840 Thomas was listed as the head of a Richmond County household. Counted were: one male 5-9, two males 10-14, one male 30-39, one male 60-69, one female 20-29. One person was marked as working in agriculture and one adult was listed as not being able to read or write. Apparently Thomas's wife had died and one of his children had moved in with him along with their family.
Thomas is thought to have died about 1848. He does not appear to have written a will and his burial location is unknown.
