William wrote his will on January 25th, 1716. He left to son Edward his plantation and house and all the land on the south side of a line running up a valley called Long Valley. His son John received the land on the north side of the line on both sides of Mill Swamp. In addition to land he gave slaves to both Edward and John. William signed his will with an "X." The will was proven April 11th, 1716 in Lancaster County court.
On April 25th of 1716 an inventory and appraisal of William's estate was made by William Nash, Henry Carter, Elias Edmonds and John Pinckard. The total value of the estate was given as 231 pounds 5 pence and 94 shillings and included six named slaves. Other items listed included an old canoe, a horse named Brandy, two old bibles, a variety of carpenters tools and four gallons of nails. Livestock was listed as two dozen cows, 34 sheep and 19 hogs.
