Elizabeth Melson was born about 1726 in Accomack County to John Melson and Ann. She married Arthur Barnes, son of John Barnes, Jr. and Esther about 1745.
Elizabeth's father died before May of 1751. He named Elizabeth in his will as Elizabeth Barns.
Elizabeth's husband, Arthur, wrote his will on September 6th, 1756. He left all of his land and possessions to her first and instructed that after her death or marriage that the inheritance should go to their son John. He named his brother William as executor.
Arthur Barnes' will was probated on February 23rd, 1757 in Accomack County Court. James Henry was named guardian of their son John. Arthur's brother William refused to act as executor of the estate and the Sheriff was ordered to sell the estate and make settlement for his debts.
No further records are known for Elizabeth.
