Isaac Haggoman
Isaac Haggoman >> John Haggoman >> Elizabeth Haggoman >> Elizabeth Jacob >> Arthur Barnes >> James Barnes >> Susan Barnes >> Eddie Barnes >> Thelma Barnes >> Frances Franklin >> Mark DameronAccording to Whitelaw a patent was issued for 200 acres on Hungars Creek near the land of John Haggoman, Sr to brother John Haggoman, Jr, and Isaac in 1668. The patent was reissued in 1691 to Isaac alone after the death of his brother. Both would have been minors at the time the patent was issued and I have not found the original document. The land was eventually passed to his son Silvanus.
John Haggoman died in the fall of 1672, in his will he called Isaac his second son and left him a gun and a large silver spoon. One of Isaac's brothers who was also named John died in 1688 and left him a gray mare.
Isaac married to Elizabeth Johnson about 1688. She was the daughter of Col. Thomas Johnson, a Burgess, and Jane Larrimore. He and Elizabeth went on to have at least two sons.
Isaac made a will on March 16th, 1728. He left his entire estate first to Elizabeth during her life and then divided between two sons. He left his plantation to their oldest son, Silvanus, along with an Indian boy named Daniel and "whatever he wants of my carpenter's, cooper's, smith's, joyner's, shoemaker's and tanor's tools." He left to their son John the use of half of the orchards for 12 years. Isaac instructed that after his wife's death that the Indian boy named Tom should be freed and be allowed to live on the plantation for 60 years as long as he paid a yearly rent of one ear of corn to Silvanus.
The will of Isaac Haggoman was probated on April 10th, 1728 in Northampton County.
