Judith Brent

Judith married John King around 1730 and had three children. In 1748 she was named in her father's will along with her three children.

John wrote his will on March 2nd, 1752. The will was proven in court on the 19th of June that same year. He left his estate first to his wife during her widowhood and expressed wishes that their children be brought up in a "Christian manner" and with "proper schooling." To his son John he ordered 100 pounds sterling when he turned 21 to be used to purchase land. He gave 20 shillings to his daughter to buy a ring. Next he instructed that his slaves, livestock and household goods be divided among all three of his children after the death or marriage of his wife Judith and named three slaves to be sold in order to repay his debts.

Judith remarried to William Brent (her 1st cousin) on May 1st, 1753, prompting an accounting of the estate of John King for division. Ten more slaves were named to be divided up between the children. With William Brent she had three more children.
